About Faculty


Welcome to the Faculty of Agriculture



 
Agriculture is a comprehensive science covers a wide range of research fields. Some of these research are conducted in scientific areas, such as: the development of medicinal resources; techniques for processing and preserving food products;  studies on restoring natural environments; usage of water resources; soil sciences; sciences concerned with the security and safety of food; research on the functionality of food items and etc.
Agriculture is a science that is constantly evolving. In recent years, the field of agriculture is also becoming highly specialized. The objective of the Faculty of Agriculture is not just to train people to work in agricultural industries, but also, to equip people with the basic knowledge of agriculture and foster within them a global perspective that enables them to flourish in any environment.


Objectives
  • * Developing academic programs,
  • * Adopting educational programs and curricula which enhance student skills and practical experience to prepare them to enter the labor market and continue their self –learning,
  • * Applying a quality program to improve rates of performance in education, research and community service in order for the faculty and its academic programs to be accredited,
  • * Developing scientific research strategy related to industry and end user needs to fulfill society requirements,
  • * Supporting local and international cooperation to improve education and scientific research themes.

Faculty of Agriculture in Brief
 
The faculty was founded at 1987 as the title of Maragheh Agricultural College as a campus of the University of Tabriz. Later, at 1998, it was promoted to the Factulity of Agriculture with a relative independency. Currently, the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Maragheh is fully active accepting students and researchers at under-graduate and gradute ( M.Sc. Ph.D.) levels.
The Faculty has 41 faculty members from different  Agricultural  disciplines. Faculty of Agriculture is educational and scientific institution and covers educational and scientific/research activities in the area of Horticultural Sciences, Crop Production, Soil Sciences, Agronomy & Plant Breeding and Plant Protection.
Faculty conducts classes (lectures, exercises, professional practices and other forms of teaching), in its frame of educational activity, in compliance with the curriculum for undergraduate, gradute (M. Sc. and Ph. D.) and postgraduate studies; also conducts comprehensive exam in Ph. D. programs.
Faculty independently and in collaboration with other organizations performs scientific research and professional activities through basic, applied and developmental research, studies and projects, engineering, expertise, consulting, certificates and control in all the areas of agricultural production.
 
Faculty Departments

There are five academic running departments:
Horticultural Sciences, Agronomy & Plant Breeding, Plant Protection, Crop Production and Soil Sciences.
